Who Knows about Giving Tuesday? Not Many, Says Study

A recently published study of over 2,000 American adults has shown that, despite its huge publicity, very few consumers are aware of Giving Tuesday. “Just 18 percent of Americans are familiar with Giving Tuesday…while almost all—93 percent—are familiar with Black Friday, the retail bonanza following Thanksgiving,” reports the Chronicle of Philanthropy. With regards to the receiving end, some charity fundraisers told the Chronicle that they find asking for donations during this season distasteful, further detracting credibility from the young observance.

Whether consumers know it or not, this year’s fourth annual Giving Tuesday will occur on December 1st.
