This past Tuesday, the White House issued a new national plan to fight drug-resistant tuberculosis. “The plan calls for more emphasis on fighting the disease overseas, and sets targets for the number of people worldwide who should be on treatment. But it includes no specific commitment of funds,” reports the New York Times. According to the World Health Organization, yearly deaths from tuberculosis now exceed those from AIDS.
