Vape Liquids Forming Irritating Chemicals in Tubes

Some e-cigarettes and vaporizer liquids are forming irritating chemicals in their tubes before they reach the hands of users, according to new research.

The chemicals called acetals could be harmful to lungs, according to researchers from Yale and Duke University.

“Acetals are formed from alcohol and aldehydes, chemicals used to flavor and perfume foods and other commercial products. While some aldehydes are considered harmful, many are generally recognized as safe to eat and touch,” according to researchers, as reported by NPR.

Previous studies have shown that they can harm airways and create long-term problems that are bad for the lungs.
