USC Emails Confirm ‘money talks’ in College Admissions

Recently revealed emails from the University of Southern California showed that the higher education institution has placed special priority in the admissions process for students from parents who have donated to the university.

The athletics department specifically had put forth recommendations for “special interest” students who were tagged as children of potential donors.

Between 2012 and 2015, more than 200 students had been recommended by the department for admission.

The new information was submitted as part of a defense case for a parent who is being charged for paying his son’s way into USC, demonstrating that this is how the university handles admissions for many students.
