University of Michigan Receives $10M Donation to Develop Solutions for Health Inequality

A $10 million donation will help Michigan Medicine establish a new University of Michigan Center for Global Health Equity, where researchers and students will work to come up with solutions for global health inequality.

The funding will also help to expand data collection and support pilot programs that may come of the research department.

“A great challenge of our time is that millions, mostly children in the poorest countries, die each year unnecessarily from illnesses that can be prevented or treated,” wrote the donors.

“We hope that our gift will help to catalyze action that will make a meaningful contribution toward correcting this unacceptable inequity.”
