The UCSF Oakland Children’s Hospital will be receiving the final $15 million donation from a $50 million gift by the philanthropists pair, Marc and Lynne Benioff.

The funds will be used for expanding mental health services for children in the East Bay who are in need, which local experts say is very important as such services are lacking for thousands of children and families in the region and across the country. Additionally, the first order will be hiring more psychiatrists to meet the growing needs of children, and to potentially increase the number of visits per year that every patient has.

Experts of the hospital say that the institution will be able to hire six more psychiatrists to be available to patients who need them, as opposed to a maximum of three psychiatrists, which is what they usually have.
