UCLA Plans to Hire ‘Social Justice Advocates’ to ‘Combat Whiteness’

The University of California, Los Angeles announced that it will hire students to serve as Social Justice Advocates for the upcoming semester.

Eight to ten students will be hired onto paid positions to help combat whiteness, heteronormativity, and patriarchy, officials said.

The positions were created for the advocates to help their peers navigate obstacles presented by standards of whiteness in their every day lives, and for advocates to help educate their peers on systems of oppression that create injustice and inequality.
