According to data from a new report by Health Affairs, the U.S. is still leading in the sad metric of highest mortality rates for children among 20 of the world’s wealthiest countries.
Over 600,000 “excess deaths” of children have occurred over the last 50 years, according to the report, because the U.S. has not taken the necessary steps to protect children.
Furthermore, in the U.S. children are less likely to transition into adulthood than any other country included in the study.
Teenagers from the ages of 15 to 19 are 82 times more likely to die from gun violence in America compared to other countries.
