Transgender Teachers Changing School Protocols

Across the US, transgender teachers are changing the ways in which schools discuss and approach gender issues.

Based on current reports, transgender and queer youth are more likely to experience bullying and homelessness.

As a result, more trans and gender-nonconforming teachers are altering course curriculum to create a more welcoming and safe environment for their students.

Additionally, schools are also implementing support groups for teachers to discuss and share their experiences in gender identity.

“We have to do a better job of making sure that transgender people aren’t isolated,” said former teacher and transgender man Harper Keenan.
