The Importance of State Funding for High-quality Early Education

Investing in early childhood education programs of high quality can help keep children out of committing crimes and ensuring that they are well equipped for brighter futures.

Programs such as Head Start and pre-kindergarten place children on a fast-track to higher academic achievement and involvement in their communities. Early education programs have a major impact on career success, especially for at-risk children.

Studies have shown that children who were not involved in early education programs were five times more likely to lead lives as chronic criminal offenders by the age of 27, reported CentralMaine.

States that invest in their children also invest in their communities and in the success of future generations.
