Texas Judge Blocks Anti-abortion Law

A federal judge blocked an anti-abortion law that was supposed to go into effect last Friday in Texas.

U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel issued an injunction to prevent a particular procedure for abortions from being outlawed by the state.

The decision was made in response to a lawsuit by abortion providers who argued that denying women the procedure would ultimately put their health at risk.

Those who supported outlawing the procedure argued that it was “particularly gruesome” and said it was “troubling that a district court would block Texas’s lawful authority to protect life of unborn children from such a barbaric practice.”
