Teen Pregnancy Services Facing Funding Cuts

Due to recent government administration changes, many health advocates are concerned federal money to prevent teenage pregnancies will vastly diminish.

According to recent findings from The Center for Investigative Reporting, $213.6 million was cut from teen pregnancy prevention programs across the US.

In addition, funds to study the trends of teenage sexuality will also be reduced, causing many health care officials to grow concerned over the rise of sexually transmitted infections among youth.

The drastic decrease in funds may also alienate LGBT individuals who often face limited resources and access to health services.

Because of diminishing funds, organizations across the nation are increasing efforts to educate teenagers regarding safe sex practices and providing them with services to prevent teen pregnancy.
