Between 2015 and 2018, the number of Americans that are “confident” in the impact of higher education dropped significantly, with less than 48 percent reporting in a survey that they have a “great deal” of confidence in the system.
Those numbers were up to 57 percent in 2015, but since then have declined, mostly among Republicans, as discovered by the survey.
The survey collected responses from Democrats, Republicans, Independents and All.
Numerous institutions were put into question in the survey, including organized religion, the Presidency, newspapers and media, the criminal justice system and more. None, however, showed such a steep decline in confidence as did higher education in America.
