Study: Reefs Could Be Gone by 2100 in Worsening Climate Conditions

Research from the University of Hawaii Manoa suggests that coral reefs will be gone by 2100 due to climate change and warming ocean temperatures.

By then, “there will be almost no habitable locations left for coral reefs to survive,” reports one researcher at the university, Renee Setter.

Though smaller efforts by individuals are important, Setter says that “At the end of the day, fighting climate change is really what we need to be advocating for in order to protect corals and avoid compounded stressors.”
