San Francisco city board member David Campos seeks to declare a ‘state of emergency’ on homelessness crisis in the Mission District. The recent installation of a popular club venue has exacerbated the situation and further displaced homeless people into private properties.
Campos will request the activation of a provision in state law that is normally reserved for natural disasters. If passed, the law will allow city officials to move forward with developing an alleviation plan.
Although some navigation resource centers exist in the city, Campos will propose to build at least six new centers to accommodate the large numbers of homeless individuals in the area.
