Late last week the measles outbreak reached two more states in the U.S., Idaho and Virginia, with at least 41 more new cases reported.

More than 1,000 cases have already been reported this year because of a lack of vaccinations, according to health experts. The refusal by many parents to vaccinate their children leaves those youth vulnerable.

“We cannot say this enough: Vaccines are a safe and highly effective public health tool that can prevent this disease and end the current outbreak,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar.
