Part-Time College Students Less Likely to Graduate

According to a new study released by the federal government, part-time college students are less likely to obtain a degree compared to their full-time counterparts.

The survey found that only one out of every four part-time students will obtain a college degree or certificate within eight years of their initial enrollment date.

Previous studies have failed to reveal the struggles surrounding part-time students, many of whom must work full-time to support their families in addition to attending classes.

Most part-time students are over 24 years old and support themselves financially, with nearly half working at least 40 hours per week.

Universities and colleges are examining new ways to keep part-time students enrolled and on the path to graduation.
