Education leaders in North Dakota are ecstatic about the recent approval of an ‘innovation’ bill that has been in the works for years.

The bill will emphasize and promote innovation in teaching and learning methods, including trialing new programs or services that schools in the state can offer to their students.

“As a high school teacher, I am particularly excited about the opportunities we have to redefine the senior year, to reduce our focus on standardized tests, and really look at educating our kids more holistically,” said one high school teacher at North Dakota Century High School.

Educators are praising the legislation as an opportunity to secure and improve the futures of younger generations.

The bill does not include extra funding, but does offer a 3 to 5-year plan for tracking improvements through new teaching methods and would promote the benefits of creativity and innovation in the classroom.
