This past year, we had the privilege to interview numerous nonprofit organizations for our Nonprofit Spotlight series. These organizations have made long lasting contributions to their communities by providing services, knowledge, and support to individuals and families. Swords to Plowshares – Across the city of San Francisco, hundreds of veterans who served in different wars face a multitude of complex and unique issues. Swords to Plowshares Executive Director Michael Blecker discusses how the organization addresses issues faced by each individual veteran and the multitude of services designed to help them become self-sufficient. Holy Family Day Home – The Holy Family Day Home provides education and support services to families who face homelessness and challenging financial times. Chinatown Community Development Center – For over 40 years, San Francisco’s Chinatown Community Development Center has worked to help residents stay in one of the most culturally rich districts in the city. Richard H. Driehaus Museum – During the early 1900s, an abundance of wealth drove much of Chicago’s commerce and growth. Today, visitors of the Driehaus Museum are able to examine how the past corresponds to current waves of prosperity. Low Income Housing Institute – Every day, numerous individuals throughout Seattle live unsheltered on the streets without access to basic utilities, including heat.
