New Methods Identified to Minimize Opioid Overdoses

Due to the rapid increase of opioid overdoses across the US, doctors and clinicians are examining various ways to increase treatment.

According to a report published by in the Journal of the American Medical Association, treatment for opioid addicts is not widely available, leading to a dramatic increase in overdoses and deaths.

The study also highlights the incapacities of many emergency departments in adequately treating patients with addictions.

Many addiction specialists believe the rise in deaths is associated with increased access to opioid prescriptions.

Based on studies conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on average, over 90 people fatally overdose due to opioid addiction every day.
