Deborah Haber has started a project called “Finding Home: Shine the Light”, a multi-media art series that places the spotlight on different groups of refugees that have been displaced, and their struggle to start a new life in new, and often unwelcoming places.

The art series will be held at the Jewish Community Center and Nazareth College.

The project was inspired by Haber’s parents, who were once displaced refugees themselves. As Haber observed the world’s current events and political climate, she realized that not much has changed for refugees.

“This is now the plight of millions of desperate, displaced people in the world suffering with little or no hope of respite,” she said.

The JCC will hold a fine art glass exhibit and silent auction, and Nazareth College will hold a photo exhibit that depicts contemporary refugees from places such as Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
