A new study published in Nature Climate Change, researchers found that underwater national parks are at great risk and vulnerable to climate change more than previously predicted.
There is a possibility of 5 times more warming that will affect marine life than previous studies have determined. The study found that in about 30 years, most tropical areas will reach their threshold of sustainability in warm weather if climate patterns continue on the same trajectory.
Scientists say it is difficult to protect marine life because they are so dependent on climate.
One of the biggest complications outlined by the study is the low number of protected marine ecosystems that will be protected from global warming by conservation efforts.
