Life Expectancy Drops in the U.S.

New assessment by the National Center for Health Statistics showed that life expectancy in America dropped by 0.1 percent, with a death rate increase of 1.2% –approximately 86,000 more deaths in 2015 than the previous year.

Experts are unable to pinpoint the driving cause of the drop in life expectancy. Overall, 8 of the top 10 causes of death showed increases in 2015. There was also an increase in mortality rate of white, working class individuals; the population is highly prone to drug and alcohol abuse, suicide and economic distress, experts suggest, as reported by the NY Times.
