The highest number of homeless people living on the streets is in California, according to last year’s data.

In the state alone there are an estimated 118,000 individuals on the streets. New York has about 86,000 — the second highest number. Yet New York’s homeless population is still sheltered.

Meanwhile, extreme rainy conditions along the coast of California are affecting the homeless population that lives on the streets, further displacing camps and further putting their health at risk.
