Extreme Poverty Decreases in Most Places Around the World

Though inequality is growing, extreme poverty has decreased in the last decade according to global data.

Since 2010, extreme poverty decreased from 16 percent to 7.7 percent, according to stats from the World Bank and World Poverty Clock. In China, extreme poverty was nearly eradicated, as reported by Daily Mail, and the trend was true for Latin American and South East Asia too.

In sub-Saharan Africa however, extreme poverty increased.

The world’s richest people, however, have also gotten richer.

There are now more than 2,100 billionaires with a combined wealth of $8.7 trillion.
