A new exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum of Art is exploring and demonstrating how indigenous peoples have been impacted by the environment.
The exhibit “Climate in Crisis: Environmental Change in the Indigenous Americas” includes more than 60 peices of art from the last 2800 years, reports The Guadian, which explore the relationship between natives and their environment, versus Euro-Americans, who have traditionally treated mankind as superior to the environment.
“By including Indigenous world views into the conversation, it will make people more aware of how important they are; promoting environmental justice and supporting native cultures,” said Nancy Rosoff, the curator, as reported by The Guardian.
The most recent issues it covers are the Dakota Access pipeline and protesting Native Americans, and the fires that burned in Brazil.
