Many arts institutes and museums are closed amid local government mandates to shut down businesses and keep only the essential open.
But it seems thieves are taking advantage of closures – at least at the Netherlands’ Singer Laren Museum, where a Van Gogh painting was recently stolen overnight.
“This splendid and moving artwork by one of our great artists has been stolen, taken from the community,” said Jan Rudolph de Lorm, the director of the Singer Laren Museum, who also said he was shocked and livid at the situation.
The painting titled “Lentetuin” or “Spring Garden” by the artist Vincent van Gogh was a loan to the Laren Museum from the Groninger Museum.
