Drug Deactivation Pouches Distributed in Pennsylvania for Unused Medicine

In Pennsylvania, Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced the distribution of drug deactivation pouches to pharmacies in order to safely eliminate unused prescription drugs.

More than 200 pharmacies in 12 Pennsylvania counties will distribute the pouches for free to anyone who wants to get dispose of their unused prescription drugs.

Shapiro explained that many drug addicts gain access to prescription drugs that were never used by friends and family.

Shapiro says that the effort will help 12 counties that have particularly poor access to “take-back boxes” where patients can dispose of their medicine.
