Davidson Liberal Arts College Receives $24M from Duke Endowment to Recruit Top Students

Davidson College in North Carolina received a $24 million grant from the Duke Endownment. The donation is one of the college’s largest in its entire history, reports Charlotte Observer.

The college currently has about 1,800 students and is hoping to expand its reach by using the gift to offer full scholarships to 5 top students every year.

“We can build a cohort of top students from all backgrounds who learn with, and from, each other. The Duke Endowment and Davidson long have partnered in leveraging scholarships to recruit academically talented students and expand educational opportunities, knowing the return will exceed their investment,” said Davidson College President, Carol Quillen in a statement.

The college is a liberal arts school that currently enrolls students from more than 40 countries, according to the college website.
