Clean Power Plan Put on Hold by Supreme Court

According to NPR, Obama’s Clean Power Plan, which “aims to reduce heat trapping carbon pollution from power plants,” has been put on hold after the Supreme Court granted a stay request to keep the EPA from moving ahead with rules to decrease carbon emissions from the nation’s power plants.

The decision has dealt a blow to the greater fight against climate change in the United States, but the White House remains confident that the plan will prevail in court when the case is argued in June. Unfortunately, if the case reaches the Supreme Court, the fate of the plan may not be settled until 2017, under a new president.
