Carlos Slim, one of the world’s most influential figures and fourth richest man, released a new, free educational platform called ‘App-prende’ that teaches skills and lesson for specific trades. The platform will help expand opportunities for poor Spanish-speakers who otherwise might not have access to education and, in turn, employment.

The project, launched through the Carlos Slim Foundation, has taken a different angle to educating people who lack opportunities to receive an education, by offering guides and tutorials of very specific trades that can be easily translated into jobs. Among them, cell-phone repair, financial planning, dairy-farm operation and making cement for brick building.
