Can Family Foundations Have Political Agendas?

Barbara Underwood, New York state attorney general, asked a state judge to undo the Donald J. Trump Foundation after the foundation was discovered to have engaged “unlawful politician coordination.”

Nonprofit organizations are generally run by teams that do not instill within the organization their own political affiliations or agendas, and are working to help communities advance in different sectors.

A major part of the investigation on the foundation unveiled a $10,000 donation to the Unicorn’s Children Foundation for a portrait of Trump himself, as reported by Huffington Post.

The lawsuit seeks to remove Trump from serving as director of a nonprofit and to ban his sons and daughter from heading the organizations as well.

“That is not how private foundations should function,” said Underwood.
