The University of San Francisco announced today that it was awarded $15 million by Gordon Getty to establish Honors College, which will focus on arts, sciences and humanities.
The single donation is the largest from an individual donor and will help USF move toward its goal of $35M to open the program in fall of 2018.
The donation will fund scholarships for students, cover start-up costs and support student research and mentoring programs, among other expenses.
Getty himself graduated from USF in 1956, with a major in English.
