Michael Bloomberg is investing $500 million into shutting down coal plants in the U.S. by 2030 through the Beyond Carbon initiative. The billionaire is hoping to put the country on the path to rely only on clean energy sources.

The initiative is being called the “largest ever philanthropic effort to combat climate change.”

Bloomberg will present the initiative at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology this week.
