Bill and Melinda Gates Donate $100M for Coronavirus Research, Operations to Help At-Risk Countries

The Gates philanthropists announced a $100 million donation to help fund research for treatments for the coronavirus, which has already claimed hundreds of lives and infected thousands more.

The donation comes as the World Health Organization seeks to collect $675 million in global contributions. The funds would be used to help with operations in “at-risk countries with less robust healthcare systems.”

Since January, the coronavirus has been declared a public health emergency.
