America’s Youth Impacted and Influenced by Presidency, but Unable to Vote

“I care about who wins the next election because I know how damaging presidential power can be, especially after Trump’s impeachment,” says 17 year old, Etta Washburn who lives in Berkeley, California.

Her words resonate with many young people in the US who are already old enough to understand the importance and impact of voting and who become POTUS, but who are not old enough to be a part of that important decision.

“Watching the presidential election can bring up a mix of emotions. Those emotions can be even more complicated when you can’t vote,” writes KQED.

Despite being completely impacted to the same degree as anyone else in the country who is old enough to vote, America’s youth continue to stand on the sidelines and watch their world change as a result of the decision of all of-age voters around them.
