Alicia Keys Launches Campaign for Criminal Justice Reform

Through her social justice movement, We Are Here, Alicia Keys has teamed up with the prison reform group #cut50 to launch an online video campaign to get signatures for their petition, which asks Congress and the White House to enact significant criminal justice reforms before the end of 2015. According to People, the petition calls for “…alternatives to incarceration, including drug treatment and rehabilitation programs, as well as programs to help prisoners upon release.”

In a statement to People, the Grammy award-winning artist opined, “We need policy reforms that can keep people out of prison who don’t need to be there, and ensure that our justice system helps to heal communities, families and individuals.”
