On Friday, Donald Trump temporarily blocked particular sources in the media including CNN, New York Times, Politico, Los Angeles Times, from attending a White House meeting.
A number of conservative outlets were allowed to attend, including Breitbart.
TIME and The Associated Press boycotted to defend the media outlets that had been blocked out.
After repeated attacks on journalists and comments undermining the work of the media, President Trump once again denounced media outlets, claiming that all they produce is “fake news” and furthermore arguing that anonymous sources should not be considered real sources at all.
POLITICO reported that Donald Trump has repeatedly identified the media as a his most “prominent foe” — even more so than the Democratic party, he says.
Trump reportedly said, “I love the First Amendment. Nobody loves it better than me. Nobody. I mean, who uses it more than I do? But the First Amendment gives all of us — it gives it to me, it gives it you, it gives it to all Americans — the right to speak our minds freely. It gives you the right and me the right to criticize fake news and criticize it strongly.”
He then continued to focus on criticizing news outlets that he personally does not favor.
