Nancy Abu-Bonsrah will be the first black female to be trained as a neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins University Medical School.

Abu-Bonsrah immigrated from Ghana to the United States at the age of 15 and has lived on the East Coast for eleven years.

In addition, she will be the first physician in her family.

Abu-Bonsrah plans on taking her career to Ghana once more, to help undeserved communities by building surgical infrastructures and, beyond that, advancing global access to surgical care.
