Justice System Accused of Failing Suspected Criminals

Recent cases throughout the US have highlighted the various ways in which the justice system fails to support individuals who are suspected of crimes.

Social justice leaders are examining how the criminal system fails to support poor defendants, especially in capital murder cases.

In many instances, both accused individuals and victims often wait years to receive justice due to overcrowded courtrooms and loopholes in the constitution.

Misplaced evidence and witnesses who fail to testify are among some of the reasons that often cause innocent individuals to serve years in jail without being convicted of a crime.

“It is impossible to look at it and not find it deeply, deeply troubling,” said constitutional law expert Jonathan Turley of the justice system’s current trends.
