FDA Slows Use of Stem Cells in America

“America needs to wake up and get with it,” said Dr. Stanley Jones, co-founder of  the Houston-based stem cell services, Celltex Therapeutics. Stem cells, Jones explains, can help prevent major diseases.

In America at least, the use of stem cells to help patients overcome diseases still requires FDA approval, like most medical products.

Despite the endless amounts of research and evidence to support the benefits of stem cells, there are currently no stem-cell based products approved under the FDA.

One of the greatest concerns in stem cell therapy is the possibility of cloning a human by using iPS cells.

Jones clarified that Celltex extracts cells from fatty tissue to culture into millions of cells, then used in stem cell therapy.
