Philanthropist and billionaire George Soros has donated $18 billion into the Open Society Foundations, making it one of the largest organizations in the world.

In 1993, Soros founded the Open Society Foundations in the US where it became the second largest foundation in the world after the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Soros previously spent $14 billion to fund refugee relief and public health programs around the world.
