Artificial Intelligence Filling Vacant Role as Teaching Assistant

The creation of an artificial intelligent teaching assistant has raised questions surrounding the role of technology within classes.

Ashok Goel, a computer science professor at Georgia Tech, built his TA Jill Watson after facing a shortage of available teaching assistants.

Goel claims that as Jill answers student questions online, she continuously develops a greater IQ and now has an understanding of certain concepts.

With the invention of Jill, Goel aims to eventually export artificial teachers to different countries in order to increase literacy rates.

However, Goel is optimistic that his objective with artificial teachers will not cause human teachers to lose their jobs.
