The organization is testing a linear accelerator that could identify forged signatures on paintings.
Maurizio Vretenar, the leader of the linear accelerator project, is testing ways to determine when a piece of artwork was constructed.
Vretenar hopes the machine can rapidly define a painting’s materials without damaging the piece.
A transportable version of the machine is also being used to treat cancer in various hospitals.
Currently, the Louvre is the only museum in the world to own an accelerator.
